Sprang

What is sprang?

Picture
Sprang is an ancient textile method, worked on a set of threads that have been arranged on a frame. Every row of work yields two rows of cloth. To better understand, watch the demonstration video.
Sprang instruction, videos
Sprang generally requires some sort of frame. See below the list of options to build or purchase a frame that will suit your needs.

Carol acknowledges that we are on Treaty 1 territory, the traditional gathering place of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene people and the traditional homeland of the Métis people. Carol also acknowledges that sprang is part of many  indigenous traditions  and found in various forms all over the world. Let us re-discover this technique together.
