DVDs

Carol started by posting videos to YouTube. Scroll down for links to see some of these videos.

Many people asked for an all-in-one video. Carol now offers two videos, one on the subject of fingerweaving, and one on the subject of sprang. These can be live-streamed at the instructor co-op site taprootvideo.com. For those with slow internet, these videos are available as DVDs.

April 16, 2020 A review of the DVD Introduction to Sprang
Wow, I have tried Sprang before, but this video clarifies a few key bits that I did not understand. I had to stop the video and digest a bit. I am ready to move on and give it another try.

April 14, 2020 A review of the DVD Introduction to Sprang
This was an excellent refresher after taking Carol's class 9 months ago! Carol has a way of describing and demonstrating actions clearly and precisely. She uses appropriate materials for demonstration so beginning learners can easily see what's going on. Carol obviously listens to her students and has incorporated many tips that she picked up along the way to make things easier. Thanks for this excellent video, Carol!
Jan 23, 2020, A review of the DVD Fingerweaving Instructions:

I've watched the DVD the entire way through several times, just absorbing the process and watching your hand movements.  I am a visual learner, and although I have a copy of your book Fingerweaving Untangled, I just couldn't make progress because I couldn't figure out the best hand movements to make, or how to set up the warp.  Once I watch a maker working with fiber, then I can interpret written words more easily.  Now that I've seen your DVD, I feel very confident I can begin to make progress and be more successful with each pattern I try.

"This video answered a lot of questions I had. It was very easy to understand. I have been trying to do the arrow pattern for a long time, I have books, watched other videos the visuals just weren’t where I could understand. I watched this video and now I get it. Carol James starts you out small and progresses to the next level. You ll be able to do each of the patterns she has shown. Thank you Carol James I love this video it was worth the wait."

While books and PDFs help communicate what is necessary to understand these techniques, sometimes a video is more helpful. I have been working with my camera and video-editing tools to try to provide this type of information. On YouTube, my channel is the sashweaver chanel (button to connect to sashweaver on YouTube).
