The 5th class took place on Thursday, May 2, 2024. We set up a circular warp, and explored working in this manner.

Circular warp is a method of working that gives you a much less noticeable line between the cloth and mirror-image cloth. You begin work at a center line. The mirror image cloth will appear above that center line. This technique is ideal for making shawls and cowl-style neckscarves.

How does circular warp work?
At the right you will find a YouTube video I posted some time ago. See explain the set up, work several rows, show how the piece progresses, put in some wefts, and then cut apart. At the very end of this video you will find that clip about the bead. |

Working the last few rows can be tricky, especially for wider pieces. Peter Collingwood suggested working diagonally, a few stitches at a time. This video demonstrates the technique, making those last few rows far easier to manage.
