This is a note-sheet that I prepared for classes I've taught in person. I don't expect it to make sense ahead of class, but hope it will be helpful information after the first class.

These are instructions I prepared for the frame you will be receiving by mail. It is the "owner's manual" to be included with each sprang frame shipped by the frame-makers. Again, I do not expect it to make sense before class, but hope it will be useful after we talk about warping.

Left-handed: check the threads on your frame

The sprang frame may have been rattled around a bit in the mail. You might want to check the cross on the frame before class, Thursday, April 2. These videos guide you through the process.

The desired structure looks like the structure of chain link fence.
|
If you work overplait rows, one after the other, you get a rope structure.
|
If you work plait rows, one after the other, without the intervening overplait row, you get a dense structure, where threads pass under (or over) three threads.
