Hunting for Sprang

This is the second book of sprang lace patterns published by Herborg Wahl in 2003.

Herborg and her son Terje have given me permission to make these available to you.

Herborg writes in her native Norwegian, talking about her "hunt" for sprang. She gives an abbreviated history of sprang, and then a a description of the technique in words and pictures. Most of this book is given to sprang lace patterns. These the charting method described by Peter Collingwood, a method that works well with the type of lace she records: left-edge stitch, right-edge stitch, and double stitch motifs.

Carol acknowledges that we are on Treaty 1 territory, the traditional gathering place of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene people and the traditional homeland of the Métis people. Carol also acknowledges that sprang is part of many  indigenous traditions  and found in various forms all over the world. Let us re-discover this technique together.
