Finishing Technique: Insert a Weft and Lock Stitch
This week we explore two more finishing techniques. These require an extra length of thread to secure your work at the middle. We looked at "insert a weft" and "lock stitch". The written instruction sheet for several variations of the lock stitch can be found at the right. |

Adding colored threads to your warp
Here's me in a video, showing you three different ways to add a colored stripe to your warp. |

Finishing a multi-colored warp: tying knots
You will want to know about tying knots to hide the color joins as you finish your multi-colored warp. This video shows the way I tied the knots, to finish the ends on that piece featured in the Colored Warp video above. |
|
Transpositions - Twists The document and video at the right introduce the use of the edge stitches to create tabs. Twist the tabs (grab front and back threads and turn them over) to create an interesting surface design in the cloth. |

EXTRA Credit!
Transpositions and cables are definitely an "extra credit" subject .... not necessary for entry-level sprang ... but certainly an enticing subject for many. At the right you will find my instructions for that other sample piece I showed you in class.
